Lenovo Validated Design: Hybrid AI 201 with Open-Source RAG

This document describes a validated deployment of Lenovo Hybrid AI Platform 201 with Open-Source RAG. The solution combines Lenovo ThinkSystem infrastructure, Intel Xeon 6 processors, Ubuntu, Canonical Kubernetes, and open-source software to run document-grounded AI inference on CPU-based infrastructure.

It covers the architecture, deployment steps, and performance of an end-to-end RAG workflow, from document ingestion and hybrid search to reranking and answer generation. Performance testing with a representative enterprise document corpus demonstrated responsive performance at moderate concurrency and identified embedding and reranking as the primary retrieval-stage constraints as demand increases.

The validated configuration provides a repeatable starting point for organizations planning private enterprise AI deployments, with final production sizing to be validated against the intended workload and server configuration.
