Introduction

For over a decade, Lenovo and Nutanix have worked side by side with a shared goal: make infrastructure simpler, more flexible, and easier to operate. Today, that partnership continues to evolve—driven not just by technology, but by what customers are asking for next.

And what we hear is clear.

Customers want to do more within a consistent operating model. They want to support new workloads, modernize infrastructure, elevate performance, and make smarter use of the data and infrastructure they already have—without adding complexity.

*NEW* Nutanix AHV Support on Lenovo ThinkSystem servers and storage

At Nutanix.NEXT, Lenovo announced support for Nutanix Cloud Platform with Nutanix AHV hypervisor on select ThinkSystem servers and ThinkSystem storage arrays. This extends the Lenovo + Nutanix experience beyond traditional hyperconverged infrastructure, giving customers flexibility in how they design their environments—while keeping the simplicity they expect from integrated Nutanix solutions. This new capability delivers enterprise-grade Nutanix AHV virtualization, security, micro segmentation, and disaster recovery to Lenovo ThinkSystem server and ThinkSystem storage customers, enabling simplified operations, lower TCO, robust security, and seamless scaling across hybrid and multi-cloud environments—all within a single, integrated platform with end-to-end support.

Through our ongoing partnership with Lenovo, we continue to broaden the support of our Nutanix Cloud Platform to more servers and external storage systems, empowering customers to modernize their environments with greater speed and lower cost of change” said Thomas Cornely, EVP of Product Management, Nutanix.

This shift is also happening at a pivotal moment. Many organizations are rethinking their virtualization strategy and actively exploring alternatives. At the same time, they’re modernizing their infrastructure for AI, analytics, and data-intensive applications that demand higher performance and more flexible storage architectures.

Where we’re seeing this come to life

Modernizing with resilient storage

For modern workloads, performance and resilience matters more than ever. Customers are pairing Nutanix and AHV hypervisor with all-flash Lenovo Storage to unlock the speed and scalability needed for AI pipelines, analytics, and next-gen applications—without giving up operational simplicity.

Flexibility to leverage server and storage investments

Every customer has their own path to modernizing their virtualization environment and Lenovo is supporting customers on that journey. Lenovo server and storage solutions that are deployed with legacy solutions include the tools, enablement, and support to easily migrate to a new AHV environment. This allows them to adopt a new virtualization layer, the AHV hypervisor, without costly migrations or disruptive hardware refresh cycles, while continuing to get value from their current server and storage investments.

What does this mean for customers

Customers will see the following values with this new support for Nutanix Cloud Platform:

  • Consistency across the stack: A unified Lenovo infrastructure experience combined with Nutanix lifecycle management and operations
  • Flexibility by design: Choose the right architecture—HCI, disaggregated, or external storage—per workload
  • Enterprise‑grade NFS resilience: End‑to‑end redundancy, non‑disruptive failover, and datastore‑level availability to ensure continuous VM and application access
  • Smarter evolution: Modernize at your own pace while protecting existing investments

With this addition, Lenovo now offers one of the broadest and most flexible Nutanix portfolios in the market—giving customers the freedom to choose the right model without tradeoffs:

  • ThinkSystem servers with Nutanix AHV hypervisor and ThinkSystem storage
  • Disaggregated compute and storage for independent scaling
  • ThinkAgile FX Series for maximum hyperconverged flexibility and investment protection
  • ThinkAgile HX Series for proven, turnkey HCI simplicity
  • AI-ready HCI with Nutanix NAI and NKP integration and Lenovo infrastructure

Ultimately, this is about meeting customers where they are—and giving them a clear path forward. “Lenovo and Nutanix together continue to help customers modernize and simplify data center operations,” said Scott Patti, VP, Infrastructure Solutions Group, Lenovo. “The Nutanix Cloud Platform with AHV hypervisor support on Lenovo ThinkSystem servers and storage delivers the required performance, resiliency, and flexibility to achieve a consistent customer experience across their virtualization and hybrid cloud environments.”

Whether modernizing for performance or evolving from existing environments, Lenovo and Nutanix are helping customers move to what’s next, on their terms.
