This article introduced the new ThinkSystem 4450, 5450 and 9450 storage adapters.
Introduction
The 4450 HBA, 5450 RAID and 9450 RAID adapters are new PCIe Gen4 adapters that offer 24Gb SAS connectivity and offer high-performance NVMe RAID solution.
There are five adapters announced with the following functions:
- 4450-16i - a 16-port HBA with 24Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA internal connectivity
- 5450-16i - a 16-port entry RAID adapter with RAID 0/1/10/5 support, and 24Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA internal connectivity
- 9450-8i - an 8-port advanced RAID adapter with 4GB flash-backed cache, and 24Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA internal connectivity
- 9450-16i - a 16-port advanced RAID adapter with RAID 0/1/10/5/50/6/60/Triple support, with 8GB flash-backed cache, with 24Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA internal connectivity
- 9450-32i - a 32-port advanced RAID adapter with RAID 0/1/10/5/6/60/Triple support, 8GB flash-backed cache, and with U.2 NVMe internal connectivity to up to eight NVMe drives, each with a PCIe x4 connection
Future features are also planned for support (planned for mid-2025) as follows:
- 9450-8i and 9450-16i are planned to support U.2 NVMe connectivity (two NVMe drives for the 8i, four NVMe drives for the 16i)
- 9450-32i is planned to support 24Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA connectivity
