SUSE Linux Enterprise for HPC
This section provides information on SUSE Linux Enterprise for High Performance Computing (HPC) from Lenovo. Lenovo is an industry leader in the HPC space with hundreds of HPC wins using SUSE Linux Enterprise for HPC in the deployments. Many of the largest supercomputers are deployed with Lenovo servers and SUSE HPC software.
For IT professionals with performance is a primary concern, SUSE Linux Enterprise for HPC provides capabilities to build high performance datacenter environments. These subscriptions are sold by two physical sockets or two virtual machine instances.
- SUSE Linux Enterprise for HPC.
- Lenovo resells SUSE Linux Enterprise for HPC subscriptions that cover both Compute and Head Nodes. Lenovo provides Standard and Priority support for this option, recommended due to the lower costs and extensive HPC experience within Lenovo support groups.
Because of the complexity of HPC environments, SUSE recommends that you consider purchasing your subscription with either Long Term Service Pack Support (LTSS), which provides up to 3 years continued general support, or Enhance Service Pack Overlap Support (ESPOS), which provides an additional year of support (a total of 18 months). These options give you significantly more time to upgrade and/or skip a service pack completely. For more information, see https://www.suse.com/support/policy-products/.
The following tables list the ordering information for SUSE Linux Enterprise for HPC offerings. The three tables are as follows:
- HPC offerings with support from Lenovo - available worldwide except PRC
- HPC offerings with support from Lenovo - available in PRC
The following subscriptions reuse the support of its parent/base subscription.
SUSE High Availability
SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability (HA) is an extension that enables clustering and automated failover for mission critical workloads running on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. By combining multiple systems into a coordinated cluster, it ensures that applications, data, and services remain available even in the event of hardware or software failures.
Through continuous monitoring and policy driven automation, SUSE HA can restart or relocate workloads across nodes with minimal disruption, helping organizations maintain business continuity, protect data integrity, and reduce unplanned downtime.
SUSE Long Term Services Pack Support
SUSE Long Term Service Pack Support (LTSS) is an add on that extends the lifecycle of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server beyond its standard support period, providing continued security patches, maintenance updates, and technical support for existing deployments.
It enables organizations to maintain stable, production environments for longer periods without requiring immediate upgrades, allowing them to align OS transitions with broader business and infrastructure plans while reducing operational risk and disruption.
SUSE Extended Security
SUSE Extended Security (LTSS Extended Security) is an enhancement to SUSE Long Term Service Pack Support that provides expanded security coverage for systems running beyond their standard lifecycle. It extends vulnerability patching to include a broader range of security issues, helping ensure stronger protection for long lived or compliance sensitive environments.
By increasing the scope of supported vulnerabilities and maintaining ongoing security updates during the extended lifecycle phase, it enables organizations to continue operating legacy workloads with greater confidence while planning upgrades on their own timeline.
SUSE Linux Micro
SUSE Linux Micro is a lightweight, immutable Linux operating system designed as an enterprise grade host for containerized and virtualized workloads, particularly in edge and distributed environments. It provides a minimal, secure, and reliable foundation that enables applications to run consistently across standalone systems, Kubernetes clusters, and hybrid cloud environments.
Built with an immutable design and transactional updates, SUSE Linux Micro reduces operational complexity and maintenance effort while enhancing security, compliance, and system stability, making it ideal for modern cloud native and edge computing use cases.
SUSE Observability
SUSE Observability is a full stack observability platform that provides unified monitoring and analytics across Kubernetes, cloud, edge, and on prem environments. It delivers real time visibility into infrastructure and applications by correlating metrics, logs, events, and traces in a single interface.
By offering integrated dashboards, automated issue detection, and guided root cause analysis, SUSE Observability enables organizations to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance and availability issues, improving system reliability and operational efficiency.
SUSE Security
SUSE Security is a comprehensive, enterprise grade security solution designed to protect Linux, container, and cloud native environments across core, cloud, and edge infrastructures. It combines OS level security, compliance, and Kubernetes native protection to secure applications and data throughout their lifecycle.
Through its zero trust approach, SUSE Security provides end to end vulnerability management, runtime protection, and policy driven controls for containers and Kubernetes workloads, helping organizations detect threats, enforce compliance, and maintain a continuous security posture across distributed environments.
SUSE Storage
SUSE Storage provides a software defined data platform that decouples storage from traditional hardware constraints, enabling organizations to manage data as a flexible, scalable service rather than a fixed infrastructure layer.
Instead of relying on proprietary arrays, it leverages distributed architecture and open technologies to dynamically balance performance, resilience, and cost across environments—from on prem systems to cloud and edge. This allows enterprises to adapt storage strategies in real time as data volumes grow and workloads evolve, without redesigning the underlying infrastructure.
By embedding automation and policy driven data placement, SUSE Storage shifts storage from a capacity management problem into a strategic enabler for modern, data centric applications and hybrid IT models.
SUSE Subscription Renewals from Lenovo
SUSE licenses are subscription-based, which means that the client has the right to use the software only as long as they have an active subscription. Subscription licenses include updates and support.
Lenovo can renew SUSE part numbers with additional 1, 3 or 5 years of usage. A Subscription and Support (S&S) renewal extends the subscription for a year or more. The customer does not have to purchase a new software license.
The benefit of renewing subscriptions with Lenovo means that you save time and money. Lenovo offers a single point of contact for hardware and software support, so you don’t have to lose time maintaining vendor contact lists and can instead focus on things that matter to your business. Allow us to protect your business agility and product capabilities with your current technology and maintain 24x7 access to service and support (depending on the support contract the company holds). In addition, timely renewals avoid services lapse, non-compliance, and costly reinstatement fees.
